About this event
Prison teacher and Dharug man, Adam Nobilia shares the harrowing story of Kamilaroi man, Jacky Boi, who confronts historical allegations against his hero, 2Pac while learning to read.

Adam Nobilia, prison educator of fifteen years brings to life his chapter, "2-Out with 2Pac" from his soon to be published book, Australia’s Least Wanted. A haunting stage show featuring inmates and a surly officer followed by an encore of songs inspired by Adam's tenure as Long Bay's Special Education Teacher and performed under his pseudonym, Adam Blacksmith.

"2-Out with 2Pac" follows Jacky Boi, a Kamilaroi man with an intellectual disability as he embarks on a lifelong journey to learn to read, only to discover uncomfortable truths about his idol, 2Pac Shakur that force him to confront his cultural identity and his prison allegiances.

As Jacky grapples with the news of his mother’s sudden hospitalisation, the sight of a Willie Wagtail sends him into a spiral that makes him fret for her safety and simultaneously teaches his mentor a cultural lesson he'll never forget.

Jacky’s vulnerabilities are laid bare in a world where trust is fragile and justice is served cold and one wrong move could be his last.

A raw, urgent, and deeply human story that could be only told by one man.

His teacher.
