Sometimes, things are just ‘COOKED’. COOKED is a play that navigates the effects of depression and mental health on three women's relationships. Complicated, messy and real.
COOKED is a non-linear story following LOGAN as her relationship with her MUM and JEAN, her best friend, deteriorates. The play starts at the end, and the subsequent scenes are the events that have led to that moment. The story takes place in Logan’s house, and moments from the past are revealed fragmentarily. The women's multifaceted and emotionally charged relationships play out within the house's walls, as their dynamic echoes larger systemic issues that impose on their livelihoods. The play navigates the effects of depression and mental health on relationships as well as the experience of being a young woman navigating adulthood. It’s a story that is the voice of the women who wrote it and the women whose experiences crafted the story. The play invites all women to resonate with these characters, with a realisation that they too are LOGAN, JEAN and MUM.
